MyLugano is an innovative project implemented by the City of Lugano to support the local economy.
A citywide loyalty circuit that operates through a real digital currency: the LVGA. The circuit is open to all Lugano businesses that can join for free by accepting payments in LVGA and offering a discount to all registered users in the form of cashback. The logic is very simple: the more you spend within the circuit, the more LVGA you get to spend on subsequent purchases. The discount encourages the users to go local while the cashback maintains the value of the cashback within the City creating a positive loop for the entire circuit. The project is actively supported by the City of Lugano that provides and mantains the technological infrastructure and by important public-private actors who contribute, for example, by paying LVGA bonuses to their employees to spend within the circuit.

How to join and support the project?
PARTNER
All businesses with operational headquarters / or point of service delivery based within the municipal territory of Lugano can join the circuit at no costs. Any exceptions concerning businesses operating outside the municipal territory, but not in competition with local businesses, are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The partner receives a payment terminal (POS) to manage transactions in LVGA and agrees to actively promote the circuit and issue the cashback discount for every purchase made within its store by a MyLugano user. Participation is governed by a contract that is signed between the merchant and the City. At the end of each month, the City is responsible for reconciling the LVGA balance by crediting the CHF equivalent of the LVGA collected by the partner in that period. The partner enjoys full flexibility and can terminate the partnership at any time by giving 30 days' notice in writing to my@lugano.ch by the end of each month. The same right accrues to the municipality, which has no obligation to affiliate or maintain the affiliation over time.
SUPPORTER
Companies or public entities that do not operate in the sales sector but want to help support the local economic can join the project as supporters by signing a specific agreement. In this case, the company agrees to promote the use of LVGA among its employees (who receive a free MyLugano wallet) and in some cases issue timely bonuses/rewards in LVGA to their employees. This puts new cash into the loop and promotes LVGA usage and adoption within the city.
